How to identify a song in a DJ mix or podcast
To get the tracklist of a DJ mix, podcast or set recording, upload the file to AHA Music (up to 2 GB), sign in and run Full File Scan. It scans the whole recording and lists each song it recognises with the time it starts, which you can copy as a tracklist. A free account scans recordings up to 20 minutes long, with 20 minutes of scanning every day at no cost; Pro scans links up to 1 hour and files up to 6 hours. For a mix that is online, paste its YouTube, SoundCloud or Mixcloud link instead; guests can scan links up to 10 minutes without an account.
- Choose the mix, podcast or set recording above (audio or video, up to 2 GB).
- Sign in and choose Full File Scan; your browser extracts the audio first.
- Wait one to a few minutes while the whole file is scanned.
- Read the list of songs with their start times and click a timestamp to check it.
Why a long recording needs a full scan
A single identification listens to one point in the file and names one song. A mix or a podcast has many songs, so the whole recording has to be scanned piece by piece; Full File Scan does that and returns each recognised song with its position.
DJs blend tracks into each other and often pitch them to match tempo. Most of a set still matches, but a long transition between two songs, or a heavy pitch change, can leave a gap in the list. Gaps are normal; check those minutes by hand.
Podcasts and radio shows mix music under speech. Songs played on their own are recognised reliably; a song quietly under a voice is often missed.
Which method works in a DJ mix or podcast

| Paste a YouTube, SoundCloud or Mixcloud linkSame scan without downloading: free up to 10 minutes as a guest and 20 minutes with a free account, up to 1 hour with Pro. | Yes |
| Quick IdentifyNames the one song at the point you choose; use it to fill a gap. | Yes |
| Browser extensionIdentifies the track playing right now in a browser tab, one at a time. | Yes |
When it fails, and what to do
- Two songs overlap in a transition.
- The fingerprint can match neither; use Quick Identify a little later in the same track.
- The DJ played an unreleased edit, a bootleg or their own production.
- Tracks that were never released have nothing to match against.
- Music sits quietly under speech.
- Choose a moment where the music plays alone, or accept the gap for podcast beds.
- The mix is longer than your plan scans at once.
- A free account scans up to 20 minutes at a time, enough for a shorter set or one part of a mix; Pro scans links up to 1 hour and uploaded files up to 6 hours.
Questions about tracklists
Can I use the result as a tracklist?
Yes. The result lists the songs in the order they play with their start times, which you can copy into a description or a playlist.
How long does a full scan take?
Usually one to three minutes, depending on the length of the file.
Do I need an account?
Full File Scan needs a free account, which includes 20 minutes of scanning a day for recordings up to 20 minutes each, at no cost. Guests can paste a link to a recording up to 10 minutes. Pro covers full-length mixes; the pricing page lists every limit.
Does it work on a live concert recording?
Often. A live performance matches when it is close to a released recording, such as an official live album; otherwise try the cover song identifier.
Is there a page for Mixcloud mixes?
Yes, the Mixcloud tracklist finder covers pasting a Mixcloud link.
